The Franklin County Area Development Corp. honored its small and large businesses of the year. Gabler Inc., a fourth-generation family business based in Chambersburg, was named the Small Business of the Year. The company was founded in 1936 and started with one truck and a 3,000-gallon trailer hauling petroleum between Baltimore and Franklin County. According to FCADC, Gabler is widely recognized as a regional leader in short-haul transportation, warehousing, and distribution. The company expanded in 2012 and today employs 72 people. The Gabler family has actively supported the United way of Franklin County, Women In Need, and Habitat for Humanity.
